The Shpock and Willhaben platforms are perfect for getting rid of an old bicycle, unused furniture or children's clothing, for example. But the Willhaben online marketplace also has a lot to offer for commercial users. Here is a short overview:
Shpock stands for "Shop in your pocket" and is an online marketplace platform, quasi like an online flea market, where private sales and private purchases can be handled via app or browser. A great feature is the ability to limit the location, so Shpock will only show you available items in the environment you choose, making transport and pickup much easier. The online flea market scores in any case with the simplicity of its operation but also with the sustainability concept. On top of that, Shpock is free for both the seller and the buyer.
Like Shpock, Willhaben is also an Austrian company. The virtual Marketplace is divided into categories. In addition to objects of daily use, jobs, real estate and cars can also be purchased at Willhaben. Compared to Shpock, Willhaben provides also a platform to commercial customers. The website offers the possibility to run your own online shop. For private users (buyers and sellers) advertisements are free of charge (also in the area of car & engine). For commercial users, the real estate, car & engine and jobs & career sectors are subject to a fee. Advertisements from commercial merchants are also with costs. Willhaben is not an Internet auction house (cf. ebay). Offers are provided exclusively at fixed prices.
FBA and Dropshipping
The two sales and shipping options FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) and dropshipping help to simplify the start into the e-commerce business. These are good options if you don't have your own funds for the online shop and logistics yet, or if you want to test a product first.
FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon)
FBA is a service provided by Amazon that makes its services available to external retailers. Fulfilment = handling of business processes, in this case "dispatch by Amazon". In addition to shipping, however, the external dealer also has access to the marketplace with a considerable reach as well as warehousing and packaging services. In short: You store your products in the Amazon fulfilment centres, Amazon packs and ships them and also offers additional customer support. Another advantage is the "Pay as you go" principle. You only have to pay for the storage space if an order is placed and carried out by Amazon.
Dropshipping means that the storage and delivery of the goods ordered online is carried out by a third party, whereby the customer orders directly from the retailer and the sales contract is also concluded between the seller and the buyer. The dealer settles directly with the supplier. The advantages here are on the one hand that the dealer has lower expenses for the entire logistics as well as a low capital commitment for the stock. Disadvantages are that the retailer hands over a substantial part of his supply chain and thus loses control over it (quality of packaging, delivery reliability, etc.). It is also not easy to find a supplier for individual and small quantity deliveries. Reconsignments can also turn out to be a problem in the dropshipping model. In contrast to Amazon, where the latter regulates the entire take-back process, dropshipping providers (or wholesalers) often do not accept returns. This means that it must be addressed directly to the merchant.
